Oluwagbemisola “Gbemi” Aderibigbe is a graduate research assistant in the Joint PhD Biomedical Engineering program between Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Her research focuses on identifying metrics and clinical biomarkers for Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury (pTBI). She is co-advised by Dr. Susan Margulies and Dr. Levi Wood. Her projects involve identifying novel biomarkers involved in pTBI and understanding gait changes after pTBI. She is very passionate about her work and is really excited to contribute to the field of pTBI worldwide.

Gbemi is very passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers. Through undergrad and now in graduate school, she has held e-board positions in organizations whose goals are to teach K-12 students about STEM. She is experienced in engaging students in various entertaining hands-on STEM demonstrations, lab tours, and talk series.

One of her goals is to ensure that K-12 and college/university students utilize all resources available to them to become great scientists or engineers.

Gbemi enjoys meeting new people, learning new things, sharing ideas, travelling, and spending quality time at home. She is from a country known to have the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria! I don’t know if you’ve met any Nigerians, but they are very determined and they love having a good time. She someday hopes to share her journey in front of thousands of girls worldwide and provide them with opportunities to excel in STEM!
